Corporate social responsibility

At AOKE, we do our best to participate in the society and give back to the community. We do this by using raw materials that can, at the very least, be recycled and by building partnerships that contribute to a better world. In doing so, we hope to keep our footprint on the planet as small as possible!

543.543 kg of CO₂ compensated in 2025

Reducing emissions first, compensating what remains

For the third consecutive year, we have voluntarily compensated the CO₂ emissions generated by our sea freight container transport from China to our warehouse, in close partnership with Rotra, we compensated 543.543 kg of CO₂.

This amount is lower than in previous years, not because we transported less, but because we transported more efficiently.

Through improved planning, optimized container utilization, and smarter logistics coordination, we significantly reduced the CO₂ emissions generated per shipment. As a result, less compensation was required. While CO₂ compensation is important, not emitting CO₂ in the first place is always better than compensating it afterwards.

Together with Rotra, we continue to take responsibility for the remaining emissions within our global supply chain by supporting certified climate initiatives.

Sustainability is an ongoing journey. The reduction in compensated CO₂ in 2025 reflects real progress, and motivates us to keep improving.

Recognised for climate leadership

Greenly silver medal 2024

In 2024, AOKE Europe was awarded the Silver Medal by Greenly, recognising our commitment to transparent carbon reporting and meaningful climate action. This distinction is given to companies that go beyond measuring their CO₂ emissions by implementing structured reduction strategies and embedding sustainability into their business practices.

Earning the Greenly Silver Medal reflects our progress in managing and reducing our environmental impact across our operations and supply chain. It reinforces our ambition to continuously improve, strengthen our climate strategy, and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Reducing our footprint, investing in the future

At AOKE Europe, we take responsibility for the environmental impact of our operations. For the second year in a row, we have voluntarily compensated our CO₂ emissions. In 2024, this amounted to 948.686 kg of CO₂ emissions generated through our sea and air logistics, in partnership with Rotra, our trusted logistics partner for container shipments from China to our warehouse.

This voluntary CO₂ compensation reflects our commitment to sustainability beyond compliance. By working closely with Rotra, we actively address emissions associated with global transport while supporting initiatives that contribute to climate protection and a more sustainable logistics chain.

Looking ahead, AOKE Europe remains dedicated to continuously reducing our environmental footprint, improving efficiency across our supply chain, and investing in greener solutions. We see sustainability not as a one-time action, but as an ongoing journey, one that supports a healthier planet for future generations.

SINCE 2024

At AOKE Europe, commitment to sustainability and reducing our impact on climate change is at the heart of everything we do.

We are excited to share our latest milestone in our journey towards a greener future: the installation of 336 solar panels on our office and warehouse facility.

Previously, we achieved an impressive A+++ rating from the Dutch government for our building, constructed with the strictest environmental standards. Now, with the addition of these solar panels, we anticipate to improve our rating to the highest possible level, A+++++.

But we go beyond just installing solar panels. We are dedicated to selecting sustainable materials, implementing eco-friendly manufacturing processes, and optimizing our transportation strategies.

By crafting sustainable office furniture, we are not only contributing to a healthier planet but also creating a more productive and healthy work environment for our employees. Join us on our journey to make a lasting, positive impact on the environment while creating innovative, sustainable solutions for the future.

769.100 kg of CO2 compensated in 2023

In today's world, it is easy to claim oneself as "green" or "eco-conscious". However, words are meaningless without concrete actions to support them.

That is why we are extra proud to announce that AOKE Europe has been rewarded with a prestigious certificate from our valued logistics partner Rotra, recognizing our efforts towards environmental sustainability. In 2023, AOKE Europe voluntarily compensated a remarkable 769.100kg of CO2 emissions, aligning our words with actions.

This achievement displays our dedication to environmental sustainability and corporate responsibility. By voluntarily compensating CO2 emissions, we are not only fulfilling our duty, but also setting an example for business practices within our industry.

As we move forward, we remain dedicated to environmental conservation and are excited to continue on this path! Thank you for your continued support as we strive towards a greener tomorrow.

SINCE 2020

In cooperation with Specters Coffee, every cup of coffee we drink at AOKE Europe contributes to the fulfillment of a seriously, or sometimes life-threateningly, ill child.

Research shows that the realisation of an ultimate wish can give young patients and those around them renewed hope and confidence. In addition, this experience makes an indelible impression. Fulfilling a wish does not happen by itself. It is a carefully planned Wish Journey. It is a special process involving a large group of people. They spend months planning the dearest wishes from A to Z as carefully as possible. This journey makes an impression. From the moment they meet until long after the wish has been granted. Together, they make memories that are carried with them for life.

Every day three families in the Netherlands hear that their child is seriously, sometimes even life-threateningly, ill. Make-A-Wish Nederland wants all these young patients, between 3 and 18 years old, to fulfill their dearest wish. Currently, they fulfil more than 650 wishes per year. Despite the tremendous impact that Make-A-Wish Nederland already has on all these children and their loved ones, there are still too many children who miss out on their favourite wish every year. This made us want to commit to Make-A-Wish Nederland without any hesitation.

SINCE 2019

ISO:14001 is the international standard with requirements for an environmental management system. The environmental management system is used to develop an environmental policy appropriate to the organisation and to safeguard its implementation. The basis for the environmental management system is the 'plan-do-check-act' cycle (PDCA). ISO:14001 sets the following requirements for the results of the management system:

  • continuous improvement of performance and protection of the environment (e.g. by preventing environmental pollution);
  • control of the environmental risks resulting from the organisation's activities;
  • complying with applicable legal requirements as a minimum.

This concerns the possibilities of an organisation to influence the environment from a 'life cycle' perspective. This means that the possible environmental aspects at suppliers and customers are also covered by the environmental management system.

By involving information from stakeholders in the development of environmental policy, ISO:14001 is in line with the ISO:26000 guideline for sustainable enterprise. The ISO:14001 standard consists of the following parts:

  • context of the organisation;
  • leadership;
  • planning;
  • support;
  • implementation;
  • performance evaluation;
  • improvement.

Every three years, the certificate will be renewed, so that we will be continuously working on reducing our footprint on the planet now and in the future.

SINCE 2019

Employees expect a safe and healthy working environment and perform better in this environment. Clients of organisations also expect the employees they employ to be provided with a safe working environment. Organisations working according to ISO 45001 show that they systematically work on the working conditions, health and safety of their employees. Below you will find the benefits of ISO 45001:

  • Systematic approach leading to improvement;
  • Essential pillar of CSR policy;
  • Good working conditions lead to better motivated employees;
  • Lower absenteeism figures with financially positive consequences;
  • Demonstrable fulfilment of wishes of clients with regard to safety and working conditions.

With an ISO 45001 certificate for a health and safety management system, formerly known as an occupational health and safety management system, an organisation demonstrates that all the requirements of the standard are met, making the certificate a valuable communication tool. The presence of an ISO 45001 certificate can be a condition for the purchase or tendering of certain services.
